Deputy General Manager of BASBAŞ, Ümit M. GÜNER, and Senior Advisor for Foreign Investors at BASBAŞ, Ümit Yalçın, carried out a significant visit to Guangdong Province — China’s strongest economy — to expand their business networks and create new investment opportunities.
During intensive meetings held in the cities of Zhaoqing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, they engaged with local government officials, industry associations, and leading technology companies. Throughout these meetings, they presented in detail the investment advantages offered by Türkiye’s Free Zones, particularly the Western Anatolia Free Zone, and extended an invitation to Chinese companies to invest in the region.
Bringing together key representatives from a wide range of sectors — from advanced materials technologies and electric vehicle manufacturing to household appliances and rail systems — this visit is expected to pave the way for further strengthening commercial and technological cooperation between the two countries.
As BASBAŞ, we met with the delegation of the Tianjin Sub-Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) at the Izmir Chamber of Commerce. During the meetings with representatives of companies from Tianjin, we presented the investment advantages of the Western Anatolia Free Zone and explored opportunities for new collaborations. We believe that this meeting will pave the way for new investments from China to Türkiye.
In line with its vision for sustainable development, BASBAŞ continues to address the critical infrastructure needs of the Western Anatolia Free Zone. Within this scope, the 1,450 m³ capacity water tank and pre-treatment system, completed in 2024, ensure uninterrupted and reliable water supply to the zone. This strategic investment not only meets a fundamental need but also reinforces the “ready infrastructure” advantage for companies considering investing in our region.
The Western Anatolia Free Zone (BASBAŞ) provides a major advantage for trade with its strategic proximity to the ports located in Aliağa. Once the planned Çandarlı North Aegean Port is completed, easy access to ports will further reduce logistics costs for companies operating in BASBAŞ and enable them to deliver their products to global markets faster.
This location makes BASBAŞ an indispensable hub for companies seeking a competitive edge in global markets. We invite all investors to BASBAŞ to secure a strong future for their investments, stand out in global markets, and position themselves at the heart of trade!
We have completed the construction of a 22,600 m² concrete road that will provide access to the parcels whose infrastructure we have completed in the Western Anatolia Free Zone.

We continue to guide our students to advance confidently in their career journeys and prepare them for the world of the future. 🚀
We have successfully completed our coaching program, which we have been conducting with the 11th and 12th-grade students of Bergama Şehit Ömer Yiğit Ulus Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School for the last four years.

As the Western Anatolia Free Zone, we are taking steps that value nature on this path we have embarked on for a sustainable future.
Every sapling we plant will be a green mark we leave for the future, a growing hope.
The steps we take today will turn into the strong roots of tomorrow.

Recently, the number of investors in our region has increased to 5 with the participation of three leading companies in their fields, such as Zenith Retail Solution, Onursan, and İdatrim Textile, as well as two new investors who will produce nanotechnological products and high-temperature insulation materials. These companies will make significant contributions to both our region and the national economy, especially with their export-oriented and advanced technology-based production.

ZENITH, which has been operating since 1960 and became the leading manufacturer of shelves and grocery checkout counters in 2020, has a market share of over 80% for leading retail chains. Today, more than 30,000 stores are equipped with ZENITH retail equipment. ZENITH, which expanded its production capacity by starting operations in the Aegean Free Zone to reach every corner of the world in 2022, is rapidly moving towards becoming one of the most technologically advanced manufacturers by establishing new high-volume automatic robotic lines on a 25,000 square meter land investment in the Western Anatolia Free Zone.

ONURSAN, whose main production area is sheet and metal materials used in the production of brake pads, was established in 2011 with the aim of supplying materials and molds to brake pad manufacturers. It provides consistent service to the leading companies in the automotive industry. The company, which has made a new investment decision to meet the demands of its customers abroad, is expected to soon implement a construction project under the name ONURSAN ULUSLARARASI DIŞ TİCARET to produce in accordance with environmental regulations on a 12,500 square meter land in the Western Anatolia Free Zone.

The newest investor in the Western Anatolia Free Zone, established by BASBAŞ in Bergama with fully completed infrastructure for investors, is İdatrim Tekstil, a seat cover manufacturer and subsidiary of Diniz Adient Automotive Equipment. BASBAŞ has been operating since 2017 to establish and operate Türkiye's 19th free zone in order to increase exports, create new business areas, and encourage investments. As a result of feasibility studies, Bergama, where iron, land, and sea routes intersect, was determined to be the most suitable region, and it was decided to establish it on an area of approximately 2.5 million m² with the approval of the T.R. Ministry of Trade. On September 8, 2021, official approval was received with the Presidential decision, and BASBAŞ was authorized to establish and operate the region.

In terms of labor law legislation, companies in the Free Zone have no difference from other individuals and institutions in Türkiye. Users operate according to the provisions of the T.R. Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

Within the scope of basic infrastructure services at BASBAŞ, the supply of electricity, natural gas, LPG, industrial water, telecommunications, and internet is provided. In addition, technical support services such as project review, construction supervision, and maintenance are also offered.
